Tewantin Early Learning Centre - Room Schedule

Nursery (6 weeks - 18 months)

Our nursery room caters for up to 8 children cared for by two educators. The care and nurturing provided by our qualified staff ensures your little one bonds and thrives in their young life. Our temperature controlled sleep room with cots ensure a restful sleep and shaded outdoor space for our own safe play.

Junior Kindy Room (15 months – 3 years)

This room has the capacity for 16 children, with a shady outdoor play space of our own. The program is developed to enhance each child's language skills, social interactions, physical ability and growing independence. The children sing, dance, play and learn with toys, play dough, water, sand and paint with activities planned for collage, easel painting, home play and cooking. Concepts introduced include toilet training, washing own hands, and applying sunscreen.

Pre-Kindy Room (2.5 years - 4 years)

With their growing independence, children are transitioned to the pre-kindy room. During their time in the room educator's focus on building children's social capacity to share, listen, take turns and negotiate. As the name suggest, the time your child spends in this room is all about continuing their journey to Kindy and beyond. Building on the skills and activities introduced in the younger rooms, Pre-kindy children are encouraged to self-select materials, equipment, and toys; initiate play and make decisions for themselves.

Kindergarten Room (4 – 5 years)

Tewantin Early Learning Centre’s Kindergarten Room and Early Childhood Teacher educates and cares for children in a safe, fun, happy and educational environment. The Kindy teacher is in attendance from 8.30 - 4.30 and Program continues to be embedded within our long day care program. The Kindergarten play space encourages our learners to develop the individual characteristics that support their transition to Prep. Our play-based curriculum and unique pedagogy provide opportunities for your child to learn the skills and knowledge that we know you’re looking for: resilience; sharing; literacy; numeracy; curiosity; negotiation; concentration; confidence; flexibility.

The focus for learning is drawn from the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, a curriculum that embraces spontaneous and intentional learning. Our qualified educators provide an environment that promotes discovery, supports each child’s agency and encourages children to develop a life-long love for learning.
